TEXAN APPROVED! Without a doubt, the best BBQ in Chicago. I moved here from Texas and was dying for some great BBQ. (I actually had friends visiting from Texas bring me brisket on the plane.) There are some okay and some good BBQ places that I've tried in Chicago but Blackwood BBQ reminds me of home. I love just stepping in the doorway and stopping to smell. There is nothing like the smell of great BBQ. Even the sweet tea reminds me of Texas. I do wish they would make brisket and bacon breakfast tacos. The BBQ is great and the employees are super friendly too. I hope to see everyone here every Friday at lunch. If you're visiting from out of town, come to Blackwood BBQ and you're home.

We see lucky to find this hidden gem in the middle of downtown Chicago! The staff is friendly and very helpful. The portions they give you are plentiful and delicious. I got the chopped beef brisket and got the Kansas city sauce and my wife got the same with the Chicago style sauce. Juicy doesnt even begin to describe it. The cornbread actually had kernels of corn in them and were sweet, so it went perfectly with the meat. The chili was amazing and had pieces of beef Brisket in it! I'm from Florida and I've never tasted bbq like this down there. Great find and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a chill spot amongst all of the hustle and bustle.

I got the tacos, one brisket and one pork, and the side of elotes. So good, debated licking the tray to get all that tasty juices. This is the 2nd location of Blackwood bbq I’ve had; quality holds up across locations. Blackwood bbq has yet to disappoint, can’t wait to come back.

It was my first time eating here and the beef Brisket was really tender and flavorful even without a sauce. They have really good options for sauces: I had Chicago (sweet and spicy) and Memphis (sweet). I chose the platter and it comes with a side of pickles and apple coleslaw which is really refreshing and light and compliments the meat well. The place is rustic vibe and very accessible if you work around the west loop area.

Brisket was really good especially since they asked what my preference of cut was. The cornbread always pretty spot on too.My only regret was that I got the sweet sauce. It was good but the briskets flavor seemed like it would fit better with a spicer sauce. That being said that was my own choice. Everything they did was great.

This was delicious food, hands down. Got two tacos, one chicken, one burnt ends. Awesome mix of MexBBQ for sure. Sides of gruyere mac-n-cheese and brisket beans were just what the doctor ordered. Headed for a nap now.

Delicious burnt ends sandwich and elote makes a perfect lunch. Jackfruit is a good BBQ alternative when you're cutting meat from your diet. Quick, classic carve-in-front-of-you counter service makes this a great choice for lunch in the loop.

The brisket sandwich was very good as was the Mac'n Cheese and baked beans. The staff was also extremely friendly. I see a lot of people in their reviews mention that the prices are high-ish (relative to portion of sides in particular) but, I like that with every meal purchased they provide a school lunch for food insecure children. Would definitely reccomend and come back!
